Horses are well known for their agility and speed; most of the time, they are friendly and kind based on how they are treated. Sometimes, they act defensively, provided with the situation. They have an almost 300-degree vision, which helps them to act upon danger.

Publishers of Guinness World Records no longer recognize the world’s heaviest animals due to animal health concerns. Still, they do keep up with the shortest, tallest, oldest, and most expensive creatures on Earth, including horses. As it turns out, most people would need a step-ladder to mount the world’s largest equine.

Big Jack – The Tallest Horse in the World

Belgian Gelding horse, the Big Jack, is the world’s biggest horse; it lives in Smokey Hollow Farm in Poynette, Wisconsin, USA. The Big Jack earned its fame for extraordinary height. It is 210.19 cm and 82.75 inches. On 19th January 2010, this horse officially became the tallest horse in the world.

After achieving the Guinness World Record, hundreds of visitors gathered to see the magnificent horses with their own eyes. This horse belongs to Jerry Gilbert, his loving owner, and farm manager. He stated that after BIG Jake held his record, life got a little busier as many people wanted to see him.

The Shire – Biggest Horse Breed in the World

A British breed of draught horse known as The Shire, is usually black, bay, or grey. These breeds are tall and held the world records for both the largest and tallest horse breed many times. They possess a great capacity to pull weights, which was very helpful in farm works and as a cart-horse to carry people before automation took place (tractors, vehicles). Now they are used as forestry and for other promotional purposes.

Due to the rapid decrease in their needs for transport and farming, the demand for this horse decreased from millions of horses; their count fell to thousands of them. Even though its origin might have been long back, the establishment of the Shire breed was done in the 18th century.

A breed society was formed in 1876, and in 1878 the first stud-book was published. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, there were large numbers of Shires, and many were exported to the United States.

Holy Roller, a horse that was 10 inches taller than average, with an estimated weight over 800 kg, which is 300 kg higher than a normal racehorse, with mighty physic and a huge body, his hooves were custom made size eight where the standard size was five.

Even though he was huge, he was fast enough to finish first in 12 of 25 race starts. In spite of being huge at a young age, he did not stop growing; he was even bigger than it used to be when it returned back to John Hawkes’ stables.

The days on racetrack ended due to injury in 1999; he was 18.1 hands high when he last stood, comparatively general racehorse measure up to 15.3 hands high. Even mighty horses that came along were 17.1 hands and 16.1 hands, which might have looked like a little stable pony beside Holy Roller.

As the first leg of the American Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby was first to run in 1875, which is a three year one’s event. An estimated amount of $133,000,000 has been gambled at American bettors in 2015 alone. It is the reason why Kentucky Derby is called the biggest horse race in the world.
